3D displays

A familiar form. Rebuilt in board.

Cardboard vehicle construction

We produce vehicle replicas from layered board, with printed and unprinted examples revealing the construction behind the familiar forms. Wheels, open cabins and rear-mounted dimensional features give each model its physical character. The work shows how a recognisable object can be reinterpreted through board construction, with the printed treatment adding detail to the assembled shape. It is a useful example of production moving from a two-dimensional material into a larger sculptural object.

The thinking behind the work

Explore what board can become.

Data Image’s dimensional production capabilities offer ways to develop replicas and display features from layered materials. For teams seeking inspiration, the opportunity lies in matching the construction to the intended form and presentation. These vehicles show the relationship between structure and surface, with unprinted details making the material approach visible alongside the completed printed examples.
