Soo Good: Our Soo Yoga Journey

Situated in the vibrant and bustling town centre of Northampton is a family wellbeing centre where people can go to relax and refresh their mind through practicing hot yoga, pilates or treating themselves to a massage. Soo Yoga is the brainchild from Northampton’s very own Rugby World Cup Winner, Ben Cohen and his partner, Strictly Come Dancing Professional, Kristina Rihanoff. Together with Data Image, we collaborated and created a variety of print to bring their vision to life.

How it Began

We approached the couple back at the start of 2019 where we discussed our capabilities and the services that we provide and how we could help the two of them in their design and execution of opening Soo Yoga. After an initial meeting where I personally showed Ben and Kristina around our impressive facility, the pair were blown away because of our company values, the equipment we have, our strong workforce and the work we’ve completed for some of the world’s leading brands.

It was quickly decided that Data Image were going to be the print partner of their choice. We were extremely excited at the prospect of working on such a high-profile celebrity project with a very fast turnaround as they planned to open just a few months later in June 2019. Several meetings followed where we discussed design ideas, material options and a variety of concepts. I drew from my personal experience and knowledge to ensure maximum impact, quality and cost-effectiveness were achieved across all materials. As a result, making sure that we were using as many eco-friendly, green alternatives as possible accordingly. Ensuring that the brand ethos of being sustainable would be coupled with the appropriate green materials, enhancing their brand.

Materials We Used

One of the sustainable materials that we used was a robust and durable substrate in the children’s play area. As a result, we produced vertical partitions to create trees. These had small arches for the children to crawl through to enter a magical forest land. Which was something entirely unique that I haven’t seen done before in a children’s play area. Impressive, impactful and innovatively green. All of which delivered a 3D effect coupled with jungle printed wallpaper and a magnetic wall in the play area.

Firstly, we designed, produced and installed was the exterior signage. We used a combination of contravision, banner and vinyl to create a welcoming look for passers-by. In addition, using the brand’s colours, we designed signage to show both Soo Yoga and Soo Greens and used buzzwords to show what they offer i.e. Hot Yoga, Spin, Pilates and Healthy, Fresh and Vegan respectively. As a result, it was bright, vibrant and energetic.

Secondly, we also produced a range of wallpaper, printed foamex, acrylic stand-offs, vinyl and illuminated and non-illuminated tension fabric systems. My specialist team specifically designed the concepts including digitally drawn bespoke pieces of art for the world-class Hot Yoga studio. Our extensive experience allowed my team to share their knowledge throughout the complete process with Ben and Kristina. In addition we also provided them with mood boards, prototypes and example prints for each area of artwork.

Happy Clients

In conclusion, working on this project closely with Ben and Kristina was a real pleasure. Therefore, I’m glad to say that we not only managed to secure a client in Soo Yoga but also a great friendship with both of them. I am thoroughly enjoying attending their yoga sessions whilst my son attends Kristina’s Bespoke Ballroom dance and drama classes. Above all, it really is fun for all the family! I am extremely proud of the Data Image team for assisting in transforming the whole property into a calm and tranquil space. Which was almost entirely through the use of printed graphics.
